Transfers and initial employment of foreign workers

1

Work permit for highly qualified professionals.

This is the most suitable option for those cases in which the worker is hired by companies with more than 250 employees, which have high turnover or which are considered to be a strategic sector (R&D).

Likewise, workers who hold a managerial position, who can prove at least three years of experience in specialised sectors or with a qualified profile in accordance with the applicable regulations can apply for this permit.

This permit is also applicable to graduates, postgraduates from universities and business schools of recognised prestige.

The approximate annual salary should be, in Spain, €40,000 for qualified workers and €50,000 for managers, whereas in Portugal it may be approximately €30,000.

2

Intra-corporate transfers (foreign nationals)

This authorisation applies to those cases in which a company based outside Spain or Portugal transfers an employee to the national territory to carry out its activity. For this, the transfer must take place between centres of the same company or group of companies in Spain or Portugal. There are two types of authorisations:

  • ICT-EU authorisation for intra-corporate transfers for managers, specialists and trainees. With this type of authorisation, the company can transfer the worker to another company in the EU through simplified procedures.
  • Intra-corporate transferee authorisation for workers performing a contract or professional relationship.
